Medical practitioners all over the world recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day for at least 2-3 minutes. But how many of us follow this advice?  – It’s sad that we take the exercise of brushing teeth casually and brush just for once i.e., in the morning after waking up. We often neglect this routine during bedtime. This habit of “NOT brushing before bedtime” should be changed for the better.

After every meal, the residual food that is left on the teeth is broken into sugar by the bacteria in the mouth. The sugar further breaks down to form an acid that has enough capability to damage the Enamel (the outer coating of the teeth) and can create cavities (tooth decay/Tooth holes) and your mouth may produce the bad odor.

Irregular brushing of teeth gives an open invitation for the bacteria to build up. The first sign of bacteria formation is Plaque (clear sticky mucus layer) on the teeth. Brushing regularly removes this plaque and hence prevents the teeth from contracting the mouth related disease such as cavities, gum disease.

Even if, you might find it difficult to imbibe a new routine, continue doing so until it becomes a daily routine and a success is achieved out of it. But on the contrary, brushing your teeth often might actually weaken the teeth enamel and make your teeth sensitive. So make a routine to brush your teeth gently, twice a day for 2-3 minutes.

If you are a person who uses mobile phones during the bedtime or sleeps putting it under the pillowcase, then please become aware of the fact that it can cause irreversible damage not only to your eyes but also to the functioning of your mind and body. It further disrupts the sleeping patterns and thus making an attempt to alter the regulation of biological processes of the body.

Before going to bed, stick to a routine to, stay away from the mobile phones and ensure that you get enough qualitative rest.

If you are fatigued, then sleeping is the best idea to relax and re-energize your body. But over-doing it can be harmful to your body. Usually, a weekend is a boon for everybody in this fast-paced world. During the weekend, people who love to sleep fulfill their desire by sleeping for more number of hours than usual sleep time. But this could be a bane rather than a boon because this is analogous to the situation of sleeping too little. Sleeping either too much or too little causes a great damage to your body and also ruins your daily schedule of sleeping routine. Oversleeping may cause lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart attacks, obesity, stroke, depression, anemia etc.,

4.Popping Pimples

As soon as you see a pimple, you yearn to pop it. But if you pop it then you are likely to develop either an infection or a scar or worsen the breakout. If you definitely want to pop a pimple, then follow the best way so that you possibly could prevent the damage. Try not to squeeze a pimple using your hand. Alternatively, apply a wet cloth to the blemish and gently remove it.

The most common type of a pimple is a whitehead pimple. It has a white tip where pus gets collected underneath the skin. It vanishes by itself after few days of time. Before trying to pop a pimple, wash your hands using soap thoroughly, identify the pimple area and wipe it with an alcohol-based solution to keep the area clean and free from infection. Then pop it using a sterilized needle, or alternatively add a spot treatment to the blemish and let it sit overnight. Once you are done with this activity, again clean-wipe the area with the alcohol-based solution again.

Apply moisturizer as often as possible, to keep the dry skin away. A moisturizer keeps your skin hydrated and protects your skin from the sun and showers. It makes the skin look fresh and fluffy. Apply moisturizer, right after your bath to get best results. If your skin is dull and dry, dab moisturizer all over your body and let it get penetrated into the skin.  Moisturizer is highly beneficial for you, so don’t miss out on moisturizing your skin every day.

6.Showering Every Day

Be it the showering or bathing, It is not necessary that you should take shower daily. It is recommended not to take showers often as it may dry out the skin. As showering uses chemical soaps and shampoos, these may remove the microbes that are essential bacteria required for the functioning of a human body. Each of these microbiomes maintains the eco-system of the skin and acts as an immune system of our body to fight back with the environmental hazards when the skin is exposed. Take a shower —

  • If you want to get rejuvenated, or
  • If you feel sweaty or oily, or
  • If your body smells odd or,
  • If you have a dry skin.

Maintaining the water temperature is important when you take a shower as having the hot water showers every day can leave your skin devoid of the natural oils and thus causing the skin allergies.

Other negative aspects of taking shower daily include

  • Growing either dry hair or, dull hair or greasy hair
  • Ruining your nails as these nails absorb water during the shower which can lead to chipping and breaking of the nails.

Keeping the negatives in mind, decide on how often to shower. Try to take a shower every alternative day and learn to appreciate the balanced ecosystem of your skin.

7.Touching Your Face

When you get acne on the face, don’t you feel tempted to touch your face? Firstly identify as to why are you touching your own skin often and what makes you do so?

Rinse off the exposed skin often, especially when you have irritating or itchy sensation. Touching the face could include hand-stroking the chin, cheeks, and eyebrows, rubbing your eyes, nose, and mouth. As all the dirt and oils from your hands can easily transmit the bacteria to your face triggering an infection, so try to wash your hands often so that cleansing the hands shall remove all the dirt and oils from your hands and prevent causing the infection. You should cut your fingernails and keep it clean regularly. Try to get your hands pre-occupied with work so that you don’t touch your skin often and let it be as is.

8.Touching Your Hair

Do you love playing with your hair by twirling and tossing it, often?  Though it seems to be a fun, it is NOT!  Touching your hair often, may break your hair or make it frizzy. Don’t let your hair strands fall onto your face as this could act as an infection causing agent. Comb your hair gently without pulling it and try to tie it together at the back of your head or tuck it behind your ears so that the hair doesn’t disturb you often.
